The Christmas Chronicles, which debuted back in 2018 on the OTT Netflix, proved to be a satisfactory watch for a lot of movie-enthusiasts, and a disappointing experience for some. Part two of the movie, titled Christmas Chronicles: Part Two, has dropped on Netflix right at the perfect time before the Christmas holidays start.
Kurt Russell plays the part of Santa Claus with all his charm, and the role of Mrs. Claus has gone to the incredible Goldie Hawn. The duo’s first on-screen appearance was in a movie caked Overboard, which was released in 1987. Clay Kaytis directed the first movie from the franchise, and its sequel has been directed by Chris Columbus, famous for “Home Alone”, the first two Harry Potter movies, to name a few.
Kate Pierce, played by Darby Camp, this time is accompanied by Jack, played by Jahzir Bruno, on her adventure-laden escapades to save Christmas from the evil powers.
Belsnickel, who zaps Kate back to the North Pole from the tropical island where she is supposed to be vacationing with her mother and her new boyfriend, played by Tyrese Gibson, attacks the enduring peace and harmony of the Santa Village with the help of the Yule cat that Santa is seen chasing towards the beginning of the movie.
The movie also follows various subplots and offers ‘life advice’ for children as is expected from any movies that could be termed as holiday movies. What most of the viewers have highlighted, or rather found fascinating, is that, unlike its predecessor, part two refers directly to, and includes the authentic Santa Claus lore.
The main plot of the movie drives around securing the Christmas star stolen by Belsnickel to save Christmas from being doomed forever. Equipped with engaging animation, funny dialogues, it has the potential of being a fan favorite holiday movie.
