Chevy Corvette C8 made its debut in 2019 which was supposed to see a rise in its sales. On the other hand, Cadillac’s XLR proved to be a source of disappointment for the car manufacturing company.

The company had estimated that they would manage to sell cars somewhere between 5,000 to 7000 units per year. However, the results that they got back showed that they were only able to sell approximately 3,800 units a year. The year 2009 saw the revamped view of Cadillac but it was not enough for the sales revenue to go up. That year the company’s sales were only in hundreds. So they had to stop manufacturing XLR in the year 2009.

The number of sales does not necessarily work as a yardstick as to how the failure of a sports car it was. For some, the car came with its own values and some striking interior equipped with heated and cooled seats, remote keyless access, a navigation system, 18-inch alloys, a seven-inch screen, and a DVD player. Now news has surfaced that apparently the designer of the XLR is redesigning it for a relaunch with revamped specs for the year 2021.

The designer in question is Kleber Silva, and his next undertaking is based on the Chevrolet Corvette C8. If that is true, the next-gen XLR’s engine will also be behind the seats. Even the exterior design of the front is inspired by the 2021 Cadillac Escalade. It would be quite the task if the entire design of the Corvette is ripped off for the next XLR which was best known for being a luxurious sports car.

All of this may sound too good to be true, and the design may not come to fruition since Cadillac is now entirely immersed in manufacturing different types of vehicles. If XLR is part of the line, it is something to look forward to, but it seems highly unlikely.
