On Sunday, December 5, Elon Musk had his part of a guest appearance at 60 minutes interview. As hosted by Leslie Stahl he used “Erratic, unstable, reckless, operatic” to describe his guest, Musk at his show on 60 minutes. During the interview, his respect towards SEC grabbed much attention along with his defense on his Tweets.

The interview covered discussions on Twitter, robotics, and childhood but most importantly he spoke about how this year was the “most painful year” of his career.

The scene worked like this: as the anchor and Musk were riding along the freeway in a Red Tesla Model 3, Musk to demonstrate his autopilot feature takes off his hand which lets the car change lanes itself. Astonished Stahl throws the next question at Musk which goes well along with his stunt. Tesla faces many issues for many drivers are confused about what the car can do and what it can’t.

This is regardless that Musk’s demonstration on 60 minutes would stand as an example for other people to use it irresponsibly. Tesla has always been right on its statement that though autopilot it does need human hands on the wheel. Yet Musk risked by taking off his hands and agreeing that he wasn’t driving.

Musk has put Autopilot too much acclamation for what it was actually doing; its level best to stay in the center of its lane, to hold the speed Musk told it to keep and to maintain the distance Musk set to keep a distance from any car directly ahead of it. Changing lanes by autopilot car is done by the turning on the turn signal.

With the hands-free driving Musk with Stahl has gone more than seven miles as the California Highway Patrol brought the runaway Tesla to a stop.

Missy Cummings on researching the event says “One of the biggest problems with Tesla is something called mode confusion – people don’t realize when a car is in one automated mode versus not.” After using the car, Cummings felt it be a futuristic device that signals the user with sounds before the Autopilot is turned off.

It feels that the car can be a decent futuristic one for its users. Musk again takes on Twitter saying that the company is testing on more autopilot developmental features including traffic lights and more.
