Facebook has always been working on improving the Facebook Live experience for its audiences. Last year Facebook launched a Live video and launched Live 360 degree a month before. The company now introduced Facebook Live Audio this week, an audio-only option for the Live broadcasting platform.

Facebook on Tuesday introduced Live Audio, which has a variety of uses for publishers, podcasters, and authors. The new feature allows you to express your story with words and not video. Live Audio also presents an easy way to broadcast in low or poor signal areas, widening potential applications. The audiences will be able to discover these Live Audio broadcasts from their News Feed and will be able to communicate with them just like on Live videos by asking and answering questions in real-time, and sharing the broadcast with friends.

Live Audio gives an additional benefit to Android users that they will be able to continue listening to Live Audio even if they leave the Facebook apps or lock their screen. Those on iOS can continue to hear the broadcasts while exploring the Facebook app.

Facebook will be testing the feature over the next few weeks with several partners, including BBC World Services, LBC, Harper Collins, and authors Adam Grant and Britt Benett. The new format will be widely available to publishers and people early next year.
