Good news for Facebook users, according to a new test feature rolling out next week, there will be an option to add a song to a photo or video. At first, the feature was to be restricted only to Facebook stories as such, but the social media network later decided to widen their horizon to include News Feed too. This tool will add lucky users to add any appropriate music track to your picture or videos or any media posts with the help of Live Lip Sync option.

Let’s see how this new tool will work. Once you upload a photo or a video or if you wish, click a picture with the Facebook camera, you have to tap on the sticker icon and select the music sticker from the wide range of available stickers. This will lead you to the list of songs from which you have to choose the soundtrack that you find suited for the occasion(photo/video that is).

This done, Facebook will load the song and rest assured, you will have the chance to trim the song and use only the part you want to use. Once you’ve successfully added the song, your friends will be shown the name and the artist of the soundtrack as a sticker on your post.

In a statement to Engadget, Maya Patterson, Facebook Stories Product Designer, stated, “Adding music to your Stories goes beyond sharing what you’re listening to – it adds context and lets you creatively express yourself. We’re now starting to test music on Facebook Stories and News Feed”.

The social media platform has left no stone unturned for making this feature worth it; they have teamed with the music industry to make sure Live Lip Sync works. Also, music could be added to 360-degree videos. Facebook is really gearing up to make this music feature turn out to be something landmark in Facebook’s career. It is difficult to analyze whether this feature will be somewhat like the Lip sync apps which have gotten famous over time or the soundtrack will just enhance the video or picture.

Also, there is no clue about when Facebook will make this test feature a regular feature if they do so. Till then we have to dream, wishing that we become lucky enough to get the test feature since Facebook is trying to test it across the globe and hopefully, it won’t be restricted to just the US.
