In a bid to continue reinventing its global automotive company by accelerating transformation in electric vehicles, today, the American automobile manufacturer, Ford Motor, has released its 2022 Sustainability and Financial Annual Comprehensive Report plans to account for about 50% of its electric vehicles sales by 2030.

Ford Motor continues to reinvent its global automotive company, advancing the development and scale-up of game-changing electrified and connected vehicles while utilizing its renowned nameplates to boost operating performance and fully use technical and manufacturing capabilities.

The automobile company anticipates that annual electric vehicle manufacturing will exceed 2 million by 2026; by 2030, electric vehicle sales will account for half of the company’s global sales; and the company will be carbon neutral by 2050.

Ford also provided climate-related information in this year’s annual report, stating that by 2035, it intends to achieve a 50% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions per kilometer of vehicles sold compared to the 2019 base year, as well as greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing processes.

Emissions were reduced by 76% compared to the 2017 base year. In 2021, the company’s manufacturing-related absolute greenhouse gas emissions have been reduced by 35% compared to 2017 levels.

Ford Motor stated that the electrification transformation is critical for the company to meet its sustainable development goals, but that the change is fraught with difficulties, such as raw material procurement, waste battery recycling, and other obstacles.

According to reports, Ford Motor plans to invest more than 50 billion US dollars in electrification globally from 2022 to 2026 to preserve competitiveness and achieve a leading position in the new era of intelligent networked electric vehicles.

It is believed that Ford will develop three new vehicle plants and thousands of new jobs to ensure this happens through vehicle model research and development, as well as power battery technologies.
