Google recently launched a new Android development course that is designed to provide lectures to students teaching them how to write applications for Android devices using Kotlin. Following their plans, Google also launched a new App quality section that provides a checklist that developers can use to build attractive applications.
The App Quality website focuses on the privacy, security, functionality, and visual experience a user gets from an app. The website also includes its first version’s updated core application quality checklist. The website describes the minimum quality that all applications must meet.
Moreover, the updated checklist also encourages the use of Material Design components that will provide a more modern appearance to all the newly designed apps. Google also shares information about the video playback experience and support for HEVC compression encoding. Android Sparesheet is the choice of a tool on behalf of Google. Finally, suggestions for background services are provided so that apps can use battery power more efficiently.
Other updates and changes regarding the performance, safety, and presentation on Google Play are as follows:
“Performance and stability – Now some tools have been added, such as Android vital signs in the Google Play console. One important point to emphasize here is the application not responding (ANR). ANR is caused by threading issues and can be fixed by developers. ANR troubleshooting guide can help diagnose and resolve any ANRs present in the application.
Privacy and Security – We have summarized the latest recommendations, taking into account the latest safeguards from runtime permissions to the safe use of WebView. We have also expanded to include the privacy specifications that users expect, from protecting private data to not using any non-resettable hardware IDs.”
Google Play has become the hub that exhibits the most important policies for developers and provides more information about the guidelines.
Google will continue to update the checklist every quarter.
