A few years ago, Google made its Project Tango announcement which required three cameras to bring Augmented Reality to life. But due to certain complications with the execution, the project never really materialized beyond a couple of devices. While Apple introduced ARKit, which uses a single camera on iPhones to bring Augmented Reality (AR) to its audiences, Google followed it with ARCore. Now, the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7 Pro 5G support Google ARCore.
At I/O 2019 developer conference, Google announced that it would be bringing some features to its search results, and the same was then rolled out. The feature only has a handful of animals such as a Tiger, lion, giant panda, and wolf, to name a few. To try out this you just needed an Android smartphone that supports ARCore or an ARKit ready iPhone.
Google maintains a list of devices that support ARCore, and now, the latest flagship smartphones from Chinese manufacturer OnePlus have been added to the list. Yeah, the OnePlus 7, and OnePlus 7 Pro now support Google’s ARCore.
Well, users of the latest OnePlus flagships will now be able to place a Great White Shark in their living room or have an AR Labrador Retriever in their house. Plus, even though it didn’t catch on as well, a bunch of AR apps on the Play Store make use of Google’s ARCore technology to work, and OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro users will now have access to those as well.
