Google introduces VR180 Creator, an affordable camera that is small enough to fit in your pocket and allow users to shoot three-dimensional, immersive photos and videos. It is designed in a way to help creators capture VR photos and videos that make sure you can see them in a normal 2D too.
For creating a virtual reality experience it requires certain particular types of equipment; like cameras that are capable of creating and capturing VR-reality photos and videos, but editing is also crucial to the creation and to make this easier Google brings to you its new VR180 Creator tool for Mac and Linux.
Google VR180 Creator offers two features for VR videos; ‘convert for publishing’ and ‘prepare for publishing’. Convert for publishing takes footage from Google VR180 cameras like the Lenovo Mirage Camera and converts it into a standardized projection. Prepare for publishing re-adds the VR180 metadata after editing it and making it viewable on YouTube or Google Photos in 2D or VR.
Erik Ackermann, Software Engineer, Google AR/VR, blogs that “With affordable VR180 cameras and the simplified editing process provided by VR180 Creator, you can capture your memories in VR whether it is giving your viewers a tour of your home or bringing your viewers on an adventure with you”.
It will take some days for the Google VR180 Creator to take off at its peak. A tool for smart editing is absolutely necessary as it opens up the format a little more and helps people to know about the VR a little better.
