Google Home, the voice-activated speaker powered by Google Assistant, is now available in India. Google Home is designed exclusively to understand Indian accents and to respond to Indian contexts.
The smartphone is designed in a way that it fits easily into household items. The top surface of the device has LEDs indicators that give visual feedback once Google Home recognizes “Hey Google”. It means the device is ready and it is listening. The top surface has a capacitive touch panel to change the music or adjust the volume. With two microphones, it has accurate far-field voice recognition capability. The microphone system uses the neural beamforming technique, that delivers best-in-class voice recognition while minimizing the error rate. In India, only the chalk color variant will be available.
Google Home Mini, on the other hand, is small, sleek, and smooth. It doesn’t have any corners or edges and is almost entirely enclosed in custom fabric. It will be available in Chalk and Charcoal color variants. The company announced that the Coral variant is expected to be available for Indian consumers soon. The smart gadget packs with four LED lights underneath the fabric that get lit up either if it hears you or if it is thinking. The far-field mics make sure that it hears everything, even when there is music playing, or there is a loud noise in the background. Its circular design makes sure that it can project 360-degree sound with just one speaker.
More features, including Hindi support, are expected to come later this year. The tech giant in a blog post, mentioned Google Home is open to third-party apps for the Assistant.
Google Home and Google Home Mini will be priced at Rs 9,999, and Rs 4,499 respectively. These gadgets will be available online exclusively on Flipkart, and in over 750 retail stores across India.
