Google seems to take its emojis seriously. As a response to criticism on cheese placement on Google’s cheeseburger emoji, Sundar Pichai expressed his intention to look over the issue asap!
So much so that Pichai’s tweet reads: “Will drop everything else we are doing and address on Monday 🙂 if folks can agree on the correct way to do this!”
The response was towards author Thomas Baekdal, who noted the difference in cheese placement between Google’s and Apple’s emojis.
“I think we need to have a discussion about how Google’s burger emoji is placing the cheese underneath the burger, which Apple puts on top,” was Baekdal’s tweet.
This tweet led to the debate on the different ingredients of cheeseburgers and their placements. Google is the only tech company with cheeseburger emoji of its own that has the cheese below the meat, as noted on Emojipedia. As the tradition goes, the cheeseburger cheese is placed right on the meat patty, which helps in optimal melting.
A few other users pointed out flaws in the emojis of other tech companies, such as Apple’s lettuce placement and sesame seeds on buns on Facebook.
While we wait to see what changes Google brings to its cheeseburger emoji, we can’t overlook the fact that its CEO is taking this issue to heart.
