A camera App code has revealed the features of Google’s Pixel 6 smartphone. The smartphone is expected to be released by Google soon, after several months of anticipation.

The new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones will feature custom Tensor chips. XDA-Developers has shared some details about the camera hardware, despite the fact that the camera’s appearance and some specifications have already been revealed.

The Pixel 6 will have a 12 MP selfie camera and a 50 MP Samsung GN1 main sensor + 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, while the Pixel 6 Pro will have a 48MP periscope lens with 4X zoom.

In terms of functionality, the new Pixel 6 will be able to combine the benefits of software and hardware to boost image quality, thanks to the proprietary chip. Interestingly, XDA-Developers identified some additional functions on the Pixel that have never been seen before.

XDA discovered that the Pixel 6 Pro model is equipped with an ultra-wide-angle lens in a Google-supplied camera software version. Furthermore, sources who did not want to be identified revealed that the machine had a preset two-speed zoom option. Other features are:

  • Video recording: The Pixel 6’s main camera will record in 4K at 60 frames per second, but the ultra-wide/telephoto lens will only record in 4K at 30 frames per second.

Furthermore, the highest zoom in 4K / 60fps mode will be limited to 7X, whilst the lower mode will offer up to 20X hybrid zoom and static filming.

  • White balance: Google has been working hard to bring manual adjustment options to Android, but it may not be ready yet. It’s possible, according to XDA, that it’ll be limited to the developer experience at first.

Previously, it was assumed to be connected to the “naruto” code. It could be related to autofocus or exposure lock, but the specific purpose is unknown.

  • Support for Bluetooth microphones: The code points to the function code “sapphire,” but XDA sources are unable to confirm this at this time.

And finally,

  • face deblurring has been validated by Google: It works by using an ultra-wide-angle lens to record additional frames of the subject while the main camera captures HDR frames. The difference details are then processed by the TPU, resulting in the deblurring effect of the moving face.

However, It should be noted that the leak comes from an unauthorized version of the camera app, which may or may not appear in the final retail version of the smartphone.
