HMD Global has successfully launched Android smartphones across different price segments. It has also effectively used the nostalgia factor in users by bringing back the Nokia 3310, and Nokia 8110 and reintroducing the ‘Sirocco’ brand. Now, it has announced hosting an event in China in the city of Beijing on May 2, where we may see the revival of the iconic Nokia N series, starting with the N9.
Today, 27th April 2018, is the thirteenth anniversary of the launch of Nokia’s N-series. HMD Global’s decision regarding the revival is set with respect to this timeframe. The company’s Weibo teaser gives us hints but no concrete detail.
The accompanying illustration from the Nokia N9 teaser image features the smartphone, introduced 7 years back, in 2011. It used to run on a MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan OS. The teaser presupposes a Nokia N9 smartphone running on Android OS.
HMD Global is probably going to launch a new Nokia smartphone in China today. According to the report mill, it could be the Nokia X6.
The Nokia X6 will probably have a design similar to Nokia 7 Plus. This design boasts a full-screen display and a notch at the top. Speaking of specifications, it is expected to have a 5.8-inch full HD+ 19:9 display with two chipset options – Helio P60 octa-core or Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC – and two storage options – 64GB + 4GB RAM and 128GB + 6GB RAM.
To take care of the user’s photographic needs, the smartphone is expected to flaunt a dual-camera setup at its back. One of them is to feature a 12-megapixel sensor with a Carl Zeiss lens. It can be assumed that the smartphone will run on the stock Android 8.1 Oreo.
Reports unveiled have hinted at a possible price range. The 64GB variant could be priced at RMB 1,599 or INR 16,800, while the 128GB one could be priced at RMB 1,799 or INR 19,000.
