HTC VIVE and Qualcomm Technologies have been working together for a long time and now they have decided to collaborate in yet another project. A phenomenal experiment of pre integrating and optimizing Vive’s WAVE development platform that uses Qualcomm Snapdragon is to begin soon. This will include Snapdragon 855, Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon XR1, and Snapdragon XR2 Platforms.

Back in time, these two big companies have come together to bring out immersive mobile experience for businesses as well as consumers and making headsets like Focus Plus.

From now onwards the Snapdragon customers can utilize Vive Wave runtime using the chipset. In addition to that, according to the agreement, the HTC engineers will also offer to provide proper testing to support the new deployment of the Wave platform.

Businessmen and carriers will be able to make good use of it as they can soon offer the VR facility to their consumers with low overhead for engineering teams. This is because the Wave platform will deliver a runtime along with a content library to the device manufacturers be it smartphone-powered VR experience or a stand-alone headset.

This is further a boon because by this technology HTC will be able to create turnkey XR solution. So by unlocking access to the VIVEPORT app store it will deliver rich and immersive XR content.

According to HTC, in spite of producing PC-VR and stand-alone headsets like the Focus Plus, they feel there is a rapid increase in the demand of 5G smartphones running with Snapdragon after the 5G online has made much noise in the tech world. Operators can now easily deploy a connected VR experience to their headsets “XR viewers,” that are tethered back to a smartphone. This is possible when they use Vive Wave runtime integrated on the 5G smartphones that are powered by Snapdragon.

You must be wanting to know about these XR viewers. These are nothing but glasses that are tethered to a 5G-enabled smartphone with the help of a USB-C cable. You can experience your favorite smartphone or VR apps using these viewers. You can even use them to have an augmented or mixed reality experience by using Vive Wave.

Guess what, when best of technology gets collaborated to power and accessibility then the resultant technology will undoubtedly be the best experience for tech lovers. With this, you can have access to all your favorite content anywhere, all the time.

HTC did not just stop at producing techs. They are even planning to award the developers who come up with newer and more creative changes. They have shortlisted 24 titles for 2020 Wave Developer Awards ( WDA). It is a worldwide contest to praise the high-quality mobile VR content including games, videos, and applications (education/medical/art, etc) through prizing them. Three degrees of freedom (3DoF) and Six degrees of freedom (6DoF) are the two categories. Winners of this award will receive prize money or even the latest VR devices, and technical support, and even promotion opportunities too.

HTC is about to publish all of the WDA entries on VivePort which means it will be available on the Viveport Infinity content library. The users of standalone VR devices such as HTC VIVE, iQIYI QIYU VR, Pico, DPVR, Skyworth VR, and Shadow VR will also have access to them. The celebration of the winners will be shared by the VivePort team of China. They will host a virtual WDA ceremony using Engage Platform, on the 23rd of June.

HTC promises to engage in the betterment of the experience of innovation of next-generation smartphones. They seem to be focused on utilizing the opportunity of the coming together of 5G and mobile VR industry. They are intending to achieve this milestone with the help of Vive Wave. With high-quality mobile VR content in Viveport Infinity, the development of the mobile VR industry has become the prime focus for HTC now.
