Huawei held its DriveONE conference on November 12, and at the event launched the company’s first hyper-converged power domain solution. The all-new Huawei Electric Drive System DriveONE integrates MCU (micro control unit), motor, reducer, DCDC (direct current converter), OBC (car charger), PDU (power distribution unit), and BCU (battery control unit).

The new Drive System will not only hone in on bringing mechanics and power together but the inclusion of AI will bring about end-cloud collaboration and unified control.

According to the Chinese tech giant, the DriveONE can minimize the layout of the vehicle power domain, save 220mm in the Z direction, reduce 2 mounting brackets, shorten wiring harness by 5m, reduce 3 connectors, and reduce water nozzles and water pipes by 2.

The new system is one of the most effective one to come out in years as is evident.

The system ensures zero charging accidents and offers such a charging system that guarantees overall safety, battery visibility, electric drive visibility, and charging visibility.

The DriveONE system offers the 2C fast charging system which can give a battery life of 200km with just 10 minutes of charge. The new system, as per Huawei, has a higher efficiency (NEDC efficiency 89%), higher accuracy (SOC detection accuracy ±3%), less energy consumption, and improved endurance.

Moreover, the DriveONE system offers high-quality performance even under extreme conditions, low noise (NVH 78 db), and low radiation (EMC CLASS 4).

As for the OTA upgrade conundrum which worried a lot of users, the DriveONE system comes with a centralized flat OTA architecture that strengthens the performance, and reduces version complexity, simplifies the path while at the same time shortening the upgrade time from 10 minutes to 30 seconds only. The system also protects the security of OTA upgrades in an all-round way through three-level and multi-level strict control.
