At the 13th China Automotive Blue Book Forum, the President of Huawei Smart Car Solutions BU Wang Jun in a speech, mentioned that the Chinese company is currently working on autonomous driving solutions to make driving driverless by 2025.
Wang Jun also clarified that as of now their main focus is on modification and if a car could also be used or be a part of a smart space. “Autonomous driving has a boundary and it could disruptive when it’s completed. But what it could hold in the future, will it be the power or what kind of change it could bring in terms of the new cockpit,” said Wang. He further mentioned that it is of utmost importance to the company to make an ecosystem for smart cars and develop a new version of the cockpit system.
The upcoming Huawei smart car when actualized will be powered by HarmonyOS which will provide a new kind of experience for its users. One of the main goals of the Huawei-made HarmonyOS is to integrate this software into every other smart product, and as such, Wang Jun has stressed that the smart car will be powered by HarmonyOS.
Huawei is making rapid progress in the field of smart car solutions. Huawei’s SERES SF5 smart car has already received over 10,000 orders. Among the new order, about 6500 units will be delivered as soon as possible. Jointly built by SERES and Huawei, the SERES SF5 is build using Huawei’s DriveONE, HiCar, Huawei Sound System, and other control methods.
Moreover, the Chinese tech giant also has plans to open almost 200 experience stores around China by the end of July as a marketing strategy and to increase the sale of cars made using Huawei Smart Car technologies, hoping to rope in more profit for the company.
