A couple of months ago, Huawei launched its Harmony OS 2.0 with some major updates. On December 16, it officially unveiled the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile phone developer Beta version. The company aims to cover over 100 million devices from 40+ mainstream brands by 2021.

Wang Chengdu, the president of Huawei’s consumer business software department informed that they have collaborated with Midea, Joyoung, Boss Electric and Puffin technology in order to achieve their goal.

As per the Qicha APP report, Huawei has recently added a number of Hongmeng system-related trademark applications including HARMONYHILINK, HongmengConnect, HarmonyConnect and HongmengHiLink. According to the reports, all of them involve scientific instruments.

Previously, Huawei also applied for a large number of Hongmeng, HARMONY, and Hongmeng trademarks. However, most of them are still in the status of “application for registration”.

As the beta testing of HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile phone developers has started, Huawei hopes to work with partners and developers to create a full-scenario distributed operating system for the Internet of Everything era.

Additionally, after testing the equipments publicly, Huawei have mentioned that their HarmonyOS 2.0 is compatible with Huawei P40, P40 Pro, Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro, MatePad Pro devices and supports OTA upgrades.

Furthermore, Huawei has also announced that their Hongmeng system will be open-sourced for memory 128MB-4GB terminal devices in April 2021 and will be open-sourced for all devices above 4GB after October 2021. By 2021, Huawei smartphones will be fully upgraded to support Hongmeng OS 2.0.

With the new listed devices and the open-source Hongmeng system, Huawei will get a step closer to their dream of a full-scenario distributed operating system for the future.
