Huawei Launches Honor Play 7 in China With Mediatek Chipset and Android 8.1

Huawei launched an entry-level smartphone, Honor Play 7, in China with amazing affordability, with a price even below $100! This comes four days after the launch of the much-hyped Honor 10 on May 15.

Honor Play 7 sports a 5.45-inch FullView IPS display supporting 1440 x 720 pixels with the new extra-tall 18:9 aspect ratio. The cover of the 2.5D curved glass adds some style points to the appearance.

The handset is fueled by MediaTek MT6739 quad-core Cortex-A53 clocking at 1.5GHz. It will run EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Among connectivity features are Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 LE.

The device is packing 2GB RAM and 15GB inbuilt memory with a dedicated expandable memory slot. There is a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and LED flash and a 5MP front camera with only LED flash. It weighs 142 grams and carries a battery of 3,020mAh.

Honor Play 7 AndroidHonor Play 7 will be purchasable starting May 22 at 599 Yuan or around $95. It comes in three color variants: Black, Blue, and Gold.
