The Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. published a new patent application which is related to the “fingerprint identification method and its electronic equipment and media”. The patent was made public on December 18 and bears the identification number CN113807141A.

The patent details somewhat explain the mechanics of the new technology. According to the patent details, the application is related to the field of smart terminal technology. To be precise, the patent is related to a fingerprint identification method, its medium, and details about its electronic equipment.

The capacity information includes at least one of the capacity fingerprint images of the finger, the mouth capacity image of the mouth, and the hand to which the finger belongs to. In this case, the optimal fingerprint is recognized through the acquired capacity information.

The fingerprint identification method that is described in the patent application can collect the necessary information of the user’s fingers and hand using a capacitive sensor. Moreover, the same sensors can collect the optical fingerprint image of the user’s finger as well, this time with the help of the optical fingerprint sensor. The data collected through both of these mediums are then combined to finally execute the task of performing fingerprint identification and authentication with optical fingerprint images.

Of late, optical fingerprint images have stirred up a new conversation in the tech world. This is not the first time that Huawei has filed for such a patent. Previously, in August 2021, Huawei filed for a patent with the name “a tough method and electronic device based on twisted fingerprint”.

The patent bore the identification number CN113104308A, and the patent was originally filed on 31st January 2020. That concludes that so far Huawei owns a plethora of patents, including fingerprint anti-counterfeiting technology which can reduce the risk of fake fingerprint attempts, and fingerprint recovery technology.
