The Chinese company, Huawei is trying to build a more sustainable future by releasing its sustainability report in 2019.

The company is aiming at playing its part perfectly in the ICT industry arena which ultimately partakes in underpinning society. First off, the company is looking to diminish the gap between the poor and the more fortunate of the society.

As part of this initiative, the company had launched the RuralStar Lite in 2019, a connectivity solution that greatly reduces site construction costs and connects more than 40 million people in remote areas.

Furthermore, Huawei has gone out of its way and collaborated with its partners to work on DigiTruck mobile digital classroom that provides digital skills training in remote Kenyan regions. As per the company’s record, this program has benefitted nearly 800 people.

Huawei’s 2019 report also suggests that “Huawei has built more than 1,500 networks in over 170 countries and regions that provide network services to more than 3 billion people. Supporting network stability has always been our mission and top priority.

During emergencies like earthquakes, typhoons, tsunamis, and even armed conflicts, Huawei employees hold fast in disaster zones to restore communication networks and support smooth network operations.” In all their work, the company has maintained its transparency to everyone, including the government and the media outlets.

Huawei’s aim is also to reduce carbon emission while bringing convenience, and as it means the company has chosen its 5G power solution which can save up to 4,130 kWh of electricity per site per year.

Furthermore, in 2019, Huawei adopted the Intelligent Campus Energy Management Solution as part of its plan to digitalize campus management, and their initiative has cut the energy use by over 15%. Over 13.5 million kWh of the electricity used on the campuses came from solar power.

Additionally, the company is also extending its helping hands to various industries, and countries. For example, the 300 MW PV plant in Argentina’s Jujuy Province, which was commissioned in October 2019, will generate 660 million kWh of electricity annually, enough to power 160,000 households. Apart from these, in 2019 the company created 4,000 new jobs in local communities and had organized more than 170 community programs that are centered on green initiatives.
