Huawei has also announced a new smartwatch, the Watch GT 2. Although the Chinese manufacturer has recently given before Harmony OS smartwatch cast, this smartwatch on the Huawei LiteOS is just like its predecessor.
Huawei Watch GT 2 does not run on Google WearOS. It is remarkable that the sports watch runs on Huawei’s new Harmony operating system, LiteOS.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 is available in 42 mm and a 46 mm models. The small and lighter model has a 1.2-inch OLED display with a 390 × 390 pixel resolution. The 46mm model is equipped with a 1.39-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 454 × 454 pixels. Both variants are equipped with an all-in-one 3D glass screen, creating a wider, more complete image.
The smartwatch is powered by the new Kirin A1 chipset. This processor integrates an advanced Bluetooth processor, an audio processor and an application processor with very low power consumption.
Just like its predecessor, this wearable is equipped with an extremely powerful battery that delivers a battery life of no less than 2 weeks (46 mm model). In the GPS sports mode, battery life is 60 hours. For the 42 mm, these numbers are half as low. Nonetheless, unparalleled by other smartwatches.
With this intelligent watch, you also don’t have to be afraid of a splash of water, because the Watch GT 2 is water-resistant to a depth of 50m for 10 minutes. Bluetooth is new. Both a speaker and a microphone are built-in. To make a call via Bluetooth, you must keep the wearable within a 150m range of your phone.
This is of course at the expense of the battery life, but of course a useful function. The watch also supports the phone book with which the contact information is stored and easy to find. At the same time, the watch is provided with sufficient memory to store 500 mp3 songs.
Fitness and health functions on the Watch GT 2
Numerous new health and fitness monitoring functions have been added. This Huawei sports watch offers extra workout modes for outdoor sports: running, walking, hiking, trail running, cycling, open water swimming, and triathlon. And also for indoor sports: walking, running, cycling, swimming pool, rowing machine, free training, and cross-trainer.
In the field of heart rate monitoring, the smartwatch helps to monitor bradycardia and heart failure. Outside of sport mode, the user is notified if the heart rate is higher than 100 bpm or less than 50 bpm for longer than 10 minutes. Users can also view the data in the Huawei Sport and Health App to keep an eye on health in real-time.
TruSleep 2.0 monitors sleep quality, real-time heart rate and the quality of breathing during sleep. Subsequently, big data analysis is used to assess sleep quality. This is combined with artificial intelligence, in order to be able to offer suggestions for sleep improvement.
The new Huawei Watch also comes with TruRelax technology that helps users identify and relieve stress. Heart rate changes are recorded, and the user receives feedback via a stress index. A warning is also given that reminds the user to get up and move around after a certain time. On special occasions, the alarm can, of course, be switched off.
Furthermore, this smartwatch can record the number of steps taken each day, as well as the number of calories burned and the number of times it gets up. Subsequently, providing feedback on the physical condition allows the user to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
The price of the 46mm Huawei Watch GT 2 is set at € 250, for the smaller 42mm model, you pay a suggested retail price of € 230. Huawei’s new smartwatch will go on sale in October.
