It has been a week since Huawei announced its flagship smartphone, the foldable Mate X, at the MWC 2019. Now, without much pomp and show, Huawei has introduced its latest Y-series entry-level Y6 (2019) smartphone.
The Y6 (2019) is similar to the Y6 Pro (2019) launched this February regarding design and hardware.
The Y6 (2019) features a 5.7″ Dewdrop notch display and 87% screen-to-body ratio, complete with 720 x 1440 Full HD+ resolution.
Powered by Android 9.0 Pie-based Huawei EMUI 9.0 and a 12nm MediaTek MT6761 Helio A22 quad-core processor at 2.0 GHz, coupled with a PowerVR GE8320 GPU, the Huawei Y6 (2019) features a storage capacity of 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage, expandable up to 256GB through microSD. What differs in the latest release is its rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and face unlocking.
Capable of blocking out harmful blue light, the Huawei Y6 (2019) is TÜV Rheinland certified. The smartphone comes with a 13MP rear camera with an f/1.8 aperture lens, an 8MP selfie camera, and Selfie Toning Flash 2.0. The included Huawei SuperSound produces an additional 6db more powerful sound with strong bass effects.
Like the Huawei Y6 Pro, the Y6 (2019) comprises a 3020mAh capacity battery that comes with intelligent battery optimization.
The supported connectivity features are 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and FM radio, and new features such as full-screen gesture navigation, an intelligent Phone Manager and system speed enhancements have also been included in the Y6 (2019).
The Y6 (2019) would come in the color variants of Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, and Amber Brown, where the latter variant is said to have a faux leather texture finish that is anti-fingerprint, while the former two would be metal.
The price details of the Huawei Y6 (2019) are yet to be announced, although the price is expected to be somewhere close to Rs. 9,999 along with launch date speculations pointing at April.
