We are so enthralled with digitalization that we are trying to make it our convenience in every sector. And companies like Hyundai are the ones that help us to get to what we want. Hyundai has recently developed a Digital Key to enable car owners to access their vehicle via smartphone. The new Digital Key will replace the use of conventional physical keys that can be downloaded through an app and used by as many as four authorized people.
The newly developed technology allows users to access vehicles without the need for a smart key. The company said that the digital key installed in a smartphone allows the driver total access to the car, and the feature will be implemented in upcoming car models. The Near Field Communication (NFC) technology is used to identify the presence of an authorized Digital Key-enabled smartphone near the vehicle’s door. After unlocking the car with the Digital Key, the user can switch on the engine by merely putting the smartphone on the wireless charging pad and then pressing the Start/Stop button.
Also, once the vehicles with free parking features are commercialized, such features are expected to be remotely controlled. Hyundai Motor Group aims to gradually implement the technology in its new production vehicles, starting later this year.
