In October, Intel announced some details of their 11th generation Core desktop processor ‘Rocket Lake-S’. The processor is only 14nm but it promises double-digit IPC growth with its particular features.
The micro-architecture of the Rocket Lake-S is changed to a specially customized Cypress Cove that will transform hardware and software efficiency and increase performance. Reportedly, its native support for PCIe 4.0, integrated Xe architecture core display and media codec performance have also been improved simultaneously.
Intel had not yet revealed any further information about its CPU. However, recently, an unidentified Rocket Lake processor with an 8-core configuration has been spotted on Userbenchmark.
The results shown on the site gives the processor a 18% lead, which is quite impressive.The engineering film of the Rocket Lake processor runs at 4.2 GHz frequency, with a single-core score of 179 points; where asthe 5.3 GHz Core i9-10900K scored only 152.
Rocket Lake is an 8-core and 16-thread processor just like the i7-10700K, but is way more faster. The results show thatthe i7-10700K has a score of only 148, which makes the Rocket Lake 11th gen processor 22% faster than the former.
According to Intel, this 11th generation processor Intel 11th Gen core processor likely to be launched on September 2 will be able to deliver double-digit percentage IPC performance improvement (gen over gen) and deliver enhanced Intel UHD graphics featuring the Intel Xe Graphics architecture.
The Cypress Cove architecture will also be featuring Ice Lake Core architecture and Tiger Lake Graphics architecture. In addition to these there will also be Intel Deep Learning Boost and VNNI support features.
These 11th generation rocket Lake- S series processors will be coming out in the first quarter of 2021. We will surely be able to witness its power by then. Nevertheless, looking at the features we are sure that Intel will be able to achieve its double-digit IPC increase without any pressure.
