Lamborghini has made an innovative attempt to combine the qualities of a supercar with those of an SUV in its latest vehicle, Urus. Lamborghini’s official website describes the car as “A super sports car soul and the functionality typical for an SUV: this is 2019 Lamborghini Urus, the world’s first Super Sports Utility Vehicle.”
The car was first unveiled to the world at Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, on 5th December 2017. It made its American debut at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit, as a part of the Detroit Auto Show.
Staying true to its tagline, Urus is jam-packed to amaze car enthusiasts with a 4-liter V-8 engine with twin turbochargers that deliver up to 650 horsepower and 850 Nm torque, along with an eight-speed transmission. Such a powerful engine will enable the super SUV to go from 0 to 62 mph in a matter of seconds, 3.4 to be exact. It can reach a speed of 140 mph in 12.8 seconds, hitting its limit at 189 mph. Its brakes are powered by 10-piston 17.3-inch carbon-ceramic rotors up front and 4-piston 14.6-inch rear disc brakes at the back that allows the car to stop from 62 mph within a distance of 33 yards.
Externally, Urus has a cutting-edge, streamlined design that is both sporty and elegant at the same time. “Urus design took inspiration from the heritage of the LM002 in regard to the power dome showing the position of the engine and the significant diagonal lines, while the frameless doors recall the iconic Marcello Gandini line,” is the description provided for the vehicle’s design by the company.
So far as its interiors are concerned, Lamborghini Urus provides its users with an aeronautic design and a driver-oriented instrument concept, along with three TFT screens for instruments, infotainment, and comfort functions; and virtual keyboard with hand-writing recognition. Urus’ 4-wheel-steering, a 4-wheel-drive system with active rear torque vectoring, adaptive air suspension with active dampers, a roll stabilization system with the continuous and immediate response, carbon ceramic brakes and mixed tires will make the drive a dream! Lamborghini Urus is expected to go on sale later this year, and its prices will start at $200,000.
