Lenovo launched its new AMD-powered laptops – the ThinkPad T495, T495s, and X395 to supplement the Intel-powered ThinkPad T490, T490s, and X390, respectively.
These new laptops tout integrated AMD Vega graphics and the laptops are thin and light making it under three pounds. Lenovo also brings more extended battery life with up to four extended hours of battery life on a single charge. The company also says there has been an 18% performance increase across the board, compared to older models.
On the 14-inch ThinkPad T495 and T495s models, Lenovo is using a new 1,920-by-1,080-pixel display rated for up to 400 nits of brightness. Adding to that the expected white backlit keyboard, and there’s the potential to work in any lighting conditions unhindered. If you’re working with 3D content or playing games, Lenovo is also taking advantage of AMD’s Radeon FreeSync, which supports a dynamic refresh rate to reduce screen tearing and stuttering.
All of the machines weigh in at less than three points, and AMD claims that battery life has increased by an average of four hours compared to their predecessors, while performance has increased by roughly 18 percent across the board. The systems support FreeSync technology for stutter-free visuals and are MIL-SPEC rated to withstand the rigors of operating out in the field.
Other features include dual far-field microphones which are side-mounted mechanical docking, a ThinkShutter for the webcam and the optional ThinkPad PrivacyGuard ePrivacy filter to prevent “shoulder surfing” while you’re working on sensitive documents.
Pricing and Availability
1. ThinkPad T495 (14-inch) will cost a starting price of US$939 available in late May 2019.
2. ThinkPad T495s (14-inch) will cost a starting price of US$1089 available in early June 2019.
3. ThinkPad X395 (13-inch) will be available with a starting price of US$1089 starting in early June 2019.
