The latest additions to the list of exhibits at next week’s CES 2018 are LG’s three new concept robots that are meant for commercial use in restaurants, airports, and marts. The new robots are an extensive part of the company’s one-year-old robot lineup and the freshest highlights of its leading robotics technology.

These robots are also parts of CLOi (pronounced KLOH-ee), LG’s new robot brand. They are Serving Robot, Porter Robot, and Shopping Cart Robot. The CLOi family includes Lawn Mowing Robot and Hub Robot as well, and the duo took part in a recent trial at one of the largest financial institutions of Korea.

Speaking of trial runs of the LG robots, the new Shopping Cart Robot is quite similar to the Airport Guude Robot and Airport Cleaning Robot, which recently went through successful trial runs at the Incheon International Airport. The Shopping Cart Robot lets customers scan items via a barcode reader on itself for viewing product prices and the entire shopping list on its face. It can guide shoppers to products that they select the related smartphone app.

The Serving Robot delivers ‘meals and drinks to guests and customers at hotels and airport lounges.’ It has a built-in sliding tray that can be easily removed after serving. After each delivery is confirmed, the robot comes back on its own.

Last but not least in LG’s list of new work robots is the Porter Robot that delivers luggage to rooms for guests. It can further handle check-in and check-out services and even takes care of payment processes.

LG revealed that the CLOi robots would be further developed along with the ThinQ products. CLOi is the company’s brand that aims at delivering ‘both emotional interaction and innovative convenience to customers utilizing AI technology.’ ThinQ, on the other hand, is LG’s AI brand focusing on ‘consumer electronics and home appliances.’

Ryu Hye-Jung, the head of LG’s Home Appliance and Air Solutions Company, said: “As an important part of our future growth engine, LG is committed to expanding its portfolio of robots that can deliver real convenience and innovation in our customers’ lives. We will continue to develop a wide range of products across commercial and home robots while seeking new opportunities to contribute to the advancement of the robotics industry.”

The efficiency of the new robots in delivering fast and accurate performances and bringing convenience to the busiest consumers only echo the dedication approaches of LG in robotics in terms of the future, as per reports received!

While we are on our toe to serve you hot the next update on LG robotics, why don’t you drop your thoughts in comments below on how the robots are making things more convenient for us! Anyone out there who wants to debate on possibilities that robots may as well evolve to have their own minds and be Frankensteins in an unforeseeable future? Will that unknown future of mankind receive reflections from fictions that we treasure as forms of art?
