LG has revealed details on its latest home audio lineup that are to be announced at CES 2018 between January 8 and 12. Alongside sound bars, portable speakers, and party speakers, the highlight of the lineup are the new LG ThinQ Speaker that’s compatible with Google Assistant.

LG is not the first company to come up with Google Assistant integration for its devices. Companies like Anker, Mobvoi, and Panasonic have recently implemented the compatibility of third-party devices with the Assistant.

LG further mentioned in the announcement that this compatibility is a mark of its ThinQ brand’s progress in connectivity with smart home products. In case you missed this brand’s previous updates and are wondering about the pronunciation, then it ‘presumably’ goes like ‘think.’

Additionally, the company claims that its collaboration with Meridian Audio is going to offer better quality as compared with the audio devices of other competitors. This is where the LG ThinQ Speaker is defined as a ‘premium audio product’ of the brand, referring to the high-quality sound and smart capabilities. While quality remains LG’s focus, the ‘relatively compact size’ of the device suggests that it may overtake Google Home on the whole but seemingly will remain behind Google Home Max.

Among other revealings of the company, the portable PK Bluetooth speaker is enhanced by Qualcomm’s Aptx HD codec and tuned by Meridian Audio. The speakers of the PK series offer optimized speech and vocals, along with powerful and undistorted bass. The compatibility with the Bluetooth standard provides 24-bit wireless streaming that ‘comes close to the original.’

Other products listed by LG are the sound bar and party speakers. The new SK10Y sound bar harnesses the Dolby Atmos power and again gets the Meridian Audio enhancement in its multiple speakers. Several new party speakers for music producers and party lovers are boosted with all-in-one feature combo that includes 1,800W output, karaoke modes, DJ capabilities, easy interfaces, durable form factor, and numerous connectivity options for downloading and streaming tracks.

While this sums up LG’s pre-CES revealings, the company hasn’t yet provided pricing and availability details. But the LG fans should keep their hope in enjoying the newness affordably as the company will aim to make things competitive given the present increasing saturation of the markets.
