The bootloader US998 for LG V30 hasn’t been available in the US, until now. LG added the availability to their official unlock page recently, which is a part of the company’s series of releases of the unlocked versions for the devices in the country.
Previously, the LG devices bought from T-Mobile were easy to unlock. Although, in the case of the LG G6, the bootloader could not make the Fastboot commands work at all. In fact, there are still doubts whether the bootloader will expectedly work now.
Unlocking the bootloader gives the users access to some of the popular Android mods like Magisk, TWRP, Xposed Framework, and more. Many users, right after purchasing new devices, rush to get the unlock for flashing a new firmware or any custom ROM.
Beforehand, LG released the European variant (H930) of the bootloader and even the Italy-specific one (H930G) in the United States. Albeit, the official unlocking website took about 3 weeks to add these up.
In case you don’t get to see the list of the supported devices for the bootloader LG V30’s US998 on the company website, there’s still a way to get the unlock code. All you need to do is: log in to the LG unlock bootloader page and create an account of yours. Then, you can follow the requests for entering your IMEI and Device ID numbers. Finally, right-click and check out the drop-down for the Phone section for changing from LGUS997 to LGUS998. The unlock code will be sent to your email.
