At San Diego Comic-Con, viewers looked closer at Square-Enix and Crystal Dynamic’s Marvel’s Avengers. A teaser was shown to the Comic-con attendees that showed detailed heroic abilities of the core superheroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Hulk, and Black Widow. It was 20 minutes of gameplay describing the prologue of the game.
The footage shows a massive celebration for Avengers where out of no clue explosions take place on the Golden Gate Bridge. It is a terrorist attack, and the mighty heroes try to stop the attack that is being orchestrated by Taskmaster, a rogue mercenary villain in the comics. A story-driven game with a specific mission for specific heroes and the rest games can be played with any of your chosen characters.
Marvel Avengers was revealed during the E3 2019, but not much was disclosed to the viewers. At SDCC 2019 Marvel Gaming panel gave onlookers the first real look at gameplay and some additional details about the game.
In the gameplay, after the heroes defeat the villain, they realize that they were distracted as massive bad has taken in the city, killing Captain America in the process. Then it jumps to five years later where everyone now hates the Avengers. They are blamed for the mass destruction and death and divided by the loss of their friend, ally, and leader. This is where the teaser ends, and the game begins.
The Comic-con panel has also confirmed the game’s voice cast: Nolan North as Iron Man, Jeff Schine as Cap, Travis Willingham as Thor, Laura Bailey as Black Widow, and Troy Baker as the Hulk. They introduce their character as well. The highlighting feature in the game is the customization of the heroes power to do battle online with, or against, friends.
Marvel’s Avengers are to hit PC, Google Stadia, and Playstation 4, and Xbox One on May 15, 2020. Square Enix has a deal with PlayStation that includes PS4 owners will get early beta access to the game’s multiplayer mode.
