Marvel superhero Black Panther is now available on Fortnite video game on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Windows, and all other supported platforms. However, the game does not come alone, in the sense that, users have to purchase Captain Marvel, Taskmaster as part of the Marvel Royalty and Warriors Pack.
The entire deal is priced at $24.99. The film Black Panther grossed $1.35 billion at the box office which is a herculean achievement. Epic hinted at the Black Panther’s arrival with the release of the Wakandan Salute emote Monday morning.
As bummed out as many gamers would be with the requisite package deal, this is a great marketing strategy for Marvel. It will also direct the gamers’ attention to Captain Marvel and Taskmaster both of whom will appear in upcoming Marvel movies.
However, for gamers, it could go both ways. They could either genuinely turn out to be interested both in Captain Marvel and the Taskmaster who will appear in the upcoming Black Widow movie. Otherwise, it will become a hard sell to those gamers who have no interest in either but have to pay almost three times to play the Black Panther game.
On the other hand, the Wakanda Forever emote is being rewarded to players for free after they complete three in-game challenges. A special trailer promotes the emote which pays tribute to the recently deceased actor Chadwick Boseman who played the role of King T’Challa on screen.
Fortnite’s latest season is built around and focussed on different bounty hunters joining the in-game universe. The gamers could choose to play as the several original characters spun out by Epic, or they could choose to play as the Mandalorian.
Level 100 comes with the boon of having the Baby Yoda float next to the gamer. Epic has also added Kratos from God of War, Master Chief from Halo, and two characters from The Walking Dead.
