Constructed to be lightweight, the car handles like a dream, and its triple-layer fabric soft top integrates aluminum, magnesium, and steel to provide for a quiet onboard ambiance.
Revving up to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, the car can reach a maximum of 317 km/h. While the steering comes with its own set of advantages, including fast cornering, it additionally adjusts itself, and, depending on the driving programme, can be extended 40 millimeters downwards to change the airflow, producing the Venturi effect, and “sucking” the car to make it more a part of the road.
Furthermore, extending the electrically operated profile opens the radiator air outlet in the front to guide the air flow to the double rear diffuser, providing the car with improved stability.
The car also offers as a piece of standard equipment the AIRPANEL, an active air-regulation system. The vertical louvers at the bottom of the front apron can be opened and closed using an electric motor to cool down the car in a single second.
The front of the car comes with a pair of super large carbon wings that makes it 46 mm wider than the AMG GT and the AMG GT S Roadster. On the bright side, this allows the GT R Roadster to accommodate enlarged track and bigger wheel/tyre combos.
The side of the car flashes its AMG Performance forged wheels in the shade of matte black combined with yellow-painted calipers. It’s aluminum sidewalls make this car wider than the AMG GT and AMG GT S Roadster.
With the addition of designo graphite grey Magno matt paint, the GT R Roadster is now available in 14 different shades. For customizing, customers can avail wither the AMG Carbon-Fibre Package I, that comes with a front splitter, fins in the wings, inserts in the side skirts, and rear diffuser in a high-quality carbon-fibre look; or the AMG Carbon-Fibre Package II, complete with rear aerofoil blade, rear aerofoil end plates, and the outside mirror with carbon-fibre for a sportier look.
The cockpit has been made cushy to fit drivers of all shapes and sizes, and the phrase “1 of 750” etched on the central console clues one in regarding the minimal number of units the car has been equipped with.
GT R Roadster comes with AMG Performance seats in black/black Exclusive STYLE Nappa leather, in accordance to the standard specifications, that also offer strong lateral support by virtue of the deeply contoured side bolsters on the surface and backrest of the seat.
By allowing a driver to opt for an AIRSCARF system, this futuristic car will let people drive their cars with the top down even in winter; and the seat climate control will customize climatization in three different stages.
