The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team announced that they are partnering up with the technology supplier of supercomputing, simulation, PC and data center technologies and the high-performance computing leader AMD (NASDAQ: AMD).
As such all of Mercedes’ Formula One vehicles will bear the logo of AMD on both sides of the cockpit of the team’s 2020 car, the drivers’ race suits and team clothing and on the engineering station. Both the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team and the AMD team is dedicated towards the best and extreme performance, and the new partnership will give new zeal to this year’s Formula One racing for both companies.
The partnership does not end only on the labeling of the logo. The Formula, One driver for the Mercedes team, will use AMD commercial solutions, including the AMD EPYC server processors and AMD Ryzen PRO laptop processors.
John Taylor, the chief marketing officer at AMD said that they were thrilled to be a part of the Mercedes-Petronas team, further adding, “At AMD, we are at our best when we create disruptive technologies that push the envelope of what is possible in high-performance computing,” he believes that both the companies believe in “delivering incredible innovation and performance from the factory to the racetrack.”
Innovation is at the heart of Formula One, we always try and push the technological boundaries in our hunt for performance. We are delighted to have AMD join our team as a partner and we look forward to the journey ahead of us as we explore sophisticated solutions to unlock untapped performance potential – Toto Wolff, the Team Principal, and CEO of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team
The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team, with the AMD logo on its vehicles, will run its 2020 F1 car on February 14, 2020.
