The new version of Microsoft Edge is already available on nearly every platform. The company now added Linux to that list. Microsoft already gave hints about Microsoft Edge’s debut on Linux. But now, Microsoft confirmed during a session this week at Ignite 2019.
In an Ignite 2019 Session at Orlando named “State of the browser: Microsoft Edge”, the edge team presented a slide having all the details of Edge platforms. Lastly, it listed Linux, which Microsoft says will be “available in the future.”

Before making this confirmation, Microsoft said to seek feedback from Linux developers through a survey.
Microsoft Edge is already available across so many platforms. This includes Windows, covering Windows 7 up to Windows 10. Moreover, Edge now has a presence on macOS as well, and it has been available on Android and iOS for some time.
News confirmed that Edge’s official launch date is January 15, 2020, for Windows and macOS. Moreover, this follows a long period of testing through the new Edge’s Canary, Dev, and Beta channels.
Mobile versions of the Edge browser are also available on iOS and Android devices.
According to a source, with the announcement yesterday of its new “Edge Wave” logo, it feels as if the Edge juggernaut is now well and truly powered up and ready to make 2020 the year of the “our Chromium browser is better than yours”.
Microsoft also introduced a new refreshed logo for the Edge Chromium, which will represent an entirely new offering.
Although, when Microsoft first came with the feedback survey from Linux users, they were not welcoming this concept because they already have chromium. Moreover, after Microsoft announced the launch of Microsoft Edge for Linux, users are looking forward to this all-new Edge.
