The Microsoft Sim Update 10 shall go beta today, although it was planned for the end of August of this year. As confirmed by the developers, the delivery of the Sim Update shall start on July 8th, 2022, at 5 pm German time. Microsoft announced the start of the test phase for all Flight Simulator players on PCs and Xbox consoles which in advance wants to try out improvements in DirectX 12, Nvidia DLSS, and Co.
Although yet not available, reports suggest that the detailed patch notes and a sustainable feedback forum shall be made available to the community in advance.
When it comes to the question of new improvements and updates, the planned route for active development until the beta version’s official release is the guide. It shall benefit from an improved DirectX 12 client.
The developers primarily focus on the improvements in stability and performance instead not on optical advantages. According to the current roadmap, the Sim Update 10 beta shall also integrate Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS). The company will release a long list of bug fixes and provide technical fine-tuning. Only World Update 11 in September will bring further graphic improvements to the Flight Simulator. Players with GeForce graphics cards should benefit from AI rendering technology that improves performance (frames per second / FPS).
Now here’s how to get the Flight Simulator-Beta. If someone obtains the Flight Simulator via Stream, they can start the installation through their own library and the game settings (right-click -> Properties -> Betas). Xbox and PC users can activate the beta through the Xbox Insider Hub app, which is available for download from the Microsoft Store. There shall be a risk that Microsoft Flight Simulator will have to be reinstalled entirely before or after the test phase.
