Microsoft has set out the prices of the expanded storage cards for Xbox Series X and S, starting at $219.99 for 1TB of extra space. A listing for the 1TB Game Drive for Xbox Series X and Series S appeared on Best Buy’s website, confirming the pricing.
The product overview reads,”the only available expansion card that replicates the Xbox Velocity Architecture – providing faster load times, richer environments, and more immersive gameplay.” This will only be used for next-gen games.
The Xbox Series S sports a slimmer 512 GB SSD, to power up the utility of the console. The price of the extra storage brings that console up to around $520, more than the $499, which is the price of the more powerful Series X console.
Microsoft has said that this drive is currently the only one to interface correctly with Xbox Velocity architecture, but soon other manufacturers will deliver their own expandable storages which can bring down the price. The 1 TB Game Drive will enable players to “seamlessly” play Xbox Series X games from the drive “without sacrificing graphics, latency, load times, or framerates.”
This has been made in partnership with Seagate and will come with a three-year warranty. External 3.1+ USB hard drives are compatible with the consoles as standard, but players will be able to use Xbox One, 360, and OG Xbox from the external drives. Larry Hyrb, spokesperson of Microsoft said, “Games optimized for Xbox Series X and Velocity Architecture need to be run from the internal SSD or the Expandable Storage Drive.”
November 10, 2020, is the possible date on which the Xbox Series X and S will launch worldwide. So the players and gamers need to wait until more information is available on these devices and the accessories.
