Gujarat, the sixth-largest state in India, is the hub of diverse colors and cultures, enriched customs and values of beliefs. A temple to foreigners, it has been an ancient domain of fascinating sites of temples, palaces, sanctuaries, and hills.

And of course, standing out to be the ninth-largest state of the population, it is the place of a hundred thousand people – its soil welcoming the world to the root of its ancient entity.

However, with the onset of the pandemic, scenarios have been different and challenging, especially keeping in mind the crucial travel regimes and SOPs. With an everyday increase of COVID patients, travel has been restricted to a minimum and serious number but the traveler’s heart still keeps on wandering.

Ministry of Gujrat Tourism now brings a proposal after the honorable Prime Minister of India has been promoting more local tours. As an initiative, the Ministry of tourism now has organized weekend travels, and it is already headed towards the completion of its 2nd tour which took place between 4th-6th September, for the two famous sites of Dandi and Saputara.

Earlier, the union culture and tourism minister, Mr. Prahlad Singh Patel had commented on the prioritizing local tourism saying,

“We know the revival of international tourism will take some time. Thus, our focus is on promoting domestic tourism. The Ministry of Tourism launched Dekho Apna Desh before the outbreak. We are going forward with it… People have to get out of the fear of travel and this can start by encouraging them to visit local neighborhood attractions, day excursions, weekend getaways, and driving holidays… This will also help in supporting the local tourism economy. …. we are making efforts to engage with our stakeholders and citizens and to sustain their interest in traveling within the country once travel restrictions are lifted. A series of webinars on tourism destinations in the country is being organized with the theme of Dekho Apna Desh. Participants in these webinars include tourism stakeholders, students, and the public…”

This promotional feat is taking place under the surveillance of Associate Domestic Tours of India and is indeed a successful attempt in harnessing the growth of awareness and knowledge concerning one’s own habitat and local ethnicity and culture. Day by day with the harboring ‘Europeanized’ structure of the Indian society, this endeavor is not only an attempt of securing the travel protocols but also of incorporating the native values into the Indian system.
