Said to be the “next major evolution of Microsoft’s interactive live streaming platform”, Microsoft’s Mixer Season 2 is all set to introduce innovations that have been brought about keeping in mind a more active and engaging experience for the community.
Among its latest features, Microsoft Mixer Season 2 has introduced ‘Skills’, and ‘Sparks Patronage’, with ‘Mixer Embers’ coming soon, and ‘Progression’ lined up for launch in 2019.
‘Skills’ is all set to make live streaming a widely interactive experience for both the streamer as well as the viewers. Instead of limiting the viewers’ participation in the streaming to typing a message into chat, Microsoft Mixer Season 2 has introduced a wide array of interactive expressions called ‘Skills’ which include Stickers and GIFs, celebratory Effects like fireworks and confetti, and ‘rallying the community to keep digital beach balls bouncing.’ And every time a viewer uses a ‘Skill’ on a partner’s channel, it is going to support that partner financially.
Skills also update frequently, so there’s always something new to use, unlock and collect, helping you stand out and express your unique point of view. – Microsoft
In order to ensure that the viewers are enthusiastic about the works of a particular streamer, they can show their appreciation effectively, Mixer Season 2 has introduced ‘Sparks Patronage’. Using this feature, viewers can earn sparks by watching streams and then spend the sparks thus earned on ‘Skills’, which shall help streamers reach milestones that give them real money payouts.
‘Mixer Embers’, a feature yet to be introduced, is a new form of virtual currency that users can buy to use on high-value ‘Skills’.
Embers will be a paid currency that goes a step further than Sparks and provides your favourite streamers with direct financial rewards and bigger celebrations. – Microsoft
The Mixer progression system, for its part, shall reward a viewer’s entire engagement with a streamer’s community and on Mixer as a whole; where viewers will be able to level up by participating in the chat, using Skills, earning Applause from other users, or simply coming back each day.
“Today, you can dive into Skills and Sparks Patronage on Mixer. And then in the coming weeks and months, you’ll continue to see new updates, including the addition of Mixer Embers and Progression,” concluded Microsoft’s official blog post.
