The second season of Modern Warfare 2 will include a few additions that gamers have been requesting since the game’s release. As confirmed by Infinity Ward, the MW2 Hardcore mode is coming back with the next Season 2 update.
The game’s success isn’t totally surprising given that the Modern Warfare series is one of the most profitably successful in gaming, and the multiplayer mode still manages to draw in millions of players worldwide. Season 2 update will include the return of Modern Warfare 2 Hardcore mode
Infinity Ward’s tweet confirming the mode’s return reads “No HUD? No problem. Hardcore is back!” In hardcore mode, players typically have substantially less health, which makes the shooter seem more serious by limiting the number of shots the character can take before death.
Despite Modern Warfare 2 did receive a hardcore-like mode via a “Tier 1” playlist that arrived in November along with Season 1. Both have the same key features, including lowered health, a constrained HUD, and friendly fire. However, fans criticized it and wanted the Hardcore mode, which was a hallmark of the original game.
The Hardcore mode will be included in the game when Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 debuts on February 15, which has been postponed from its original February 1 release date. In compared to the original mode, players may expect some improvements, which will be made public soon.
As of now, nothing has been said about the Tier 1 playlist, including if it will be removed when the Hardcore mode is introduced or it will be playable along with this. In the next Modern Warfare 2 blog post, Infinity Ward will also provide additional information about the multiplayer changes, including the hardcore mode for the Season 2 update.
