Apple had decided to launch its computers with the ARM-based M1 chipset. This decision apparently made a whole world of difference, especially when compared to its previous Intel-based counterparts.

The M1 chipset-based Apple MacBook Air and Apple MacBook Pro models have proven to be significantly faster. Apple’s transition to using the M1 chip will happen gradually over the course of the next few years.

To accentuate this transition, Microsoft is also launching the M1-based Office apps to the new MacBook Models. Besides that, Mozilla too has updated the Firefox browser for the M1 MacBooks.

The Mozilla Firefox browser has been updated to support M1 chips inside the latest Apple Macbooks. The company has introduced Firefox version 84 that brings native support for the M1 MacBook models.

Mozilla has claimed that it brings a few dramatic performance improvements. The improvements include 2.5 times faster launch time for the browser.

For activating the new improved browser, the people who are already using it need to exit the browser and relaunch it for the changes to operate successfully.

Apart from the promise of a fast browsing experience, the new version also promises better power consumption. However, Mozilla failed to mention just how much less power consumption they are talking about here.

The M1 powered laptops, both the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro, utilize and consume battery very efficiently, so there is very little space left for rapid battery consumption in the first place.

On the other hand, Microsoft too launched the new Office apps, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote, for the M1 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro.

The new Microsoft 365 apps and Firefox now come with native support for the M1 MacBook laptops. Interestingly, Google also launched the M1 edition of the Chrome browser, making it more efficient for the M1-based MacBook users.
