Some bad news for Netflix India users. Netflix will withdraw its support from a bunch of devices, i.e., some devices will not be able to stream Netflix. Samsung smart TVs and Roku media players will be the ones to not get the Netflix support effective from December 1st, 2019. Netflix has provided a vague explanation of its brave decision to withdraw support from the above-mentioned devices.
However, Netflix mentioned some “technical limitations” on the side of the devices. This does not mean that users affected by this would not be able to stream Netflix. It simply means that they need to switch to a compatible device before Netflix withdraws its support from those devices.
Samsung, on the other hand, on its support forum revealed that its smart TVs from 2010 and 2011 with the words “C” or “D” after the screen size in model no. are all losing support for Netflix. To check for the affected devices, one can find the Model Code at the back of the TV. Another way is to open Support from the list of menu options and select Contact Samsung. This will show the product information on the TV screen. The affected devices users can either choose to upgrade their TVs or switch to other compatible devices.
Roku media players’ Roku XR, XD, SD, 2100X, 2050X, and 2000C will be affected. Netflix will also withdraw support from those devices that cannot auto-play the next episode effective from 1st December 2019.
