Today, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has officially unveiled a new smartphone, named Huawei P50 Pocket.
The event begins at 08:30 AM CET / 1 PM IST / 02:30 AM EST, where the smartphone giant is adding a new phone to its flagship portfolio, and this time it is a foldable one.

The new Huawei P50 Pocket is the first vertical folding screen mobile phone that will compete with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3. On the front, it has a dual-circle design, with one ring housing three cameras and the other housing a 1-inch cover display.
The new smartphone features a 6.9-inch super flexible screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio, super high resolution of 2790×1188 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, and P3 global color management. It is equally equipped with a treasure box of only 190 grams, with a thickness of 7.2 millimeters and a width of 75.5 millimeters.
The Treasure Box is equipped with a new generation of water drop hinges to achieve multi-dimensional linkage lifting, and the flatness of the screen has been increased by 28%; when folded, it can achieve seamless gaps, while the impact resistance has been increased by 62% and the extrusion resistance has been increased by 33%.
The smartphone also features a Kirin 9000 chipset with LTE connectivity. According to reports, the trio consists of a 50MP main camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera. It has a 4000mAh battery packed in, enables 40W super-fast charging, and runs the most recent HarmonyOS version.
The internal face unlocking, exterior face unlocking, and side fingerprint unlocking are all featured in the new Huawei P50 Pocket’s strong security and it is unveiled in three colors of crystal diamond white, obsidian black, and gilded gold.
The new smartphone introduces hyperspectral imaging, which can detect features beyond visible light while engaging in image fusion; it supports computational optics and primary color engines and can shoot self-portraits in folded form using an external screen.
The “Smart External Screen” on the back of the Huawei P50 Pocket can be used to realize the rear Selfie function, support a variety of customized themes, support HarmonyOS universal cards, provide a wealth of applications, and can realize the senseless connection of the internal and external screens, without flipping. At a single touch, you can access a variety of user experiences like phone calls, rapid selfies, and smart payment.
Price
Of course, Motorola’s resurrected Razr and Samsung’s ever-improving Galaxy Z Flip series are the most famous competitors.
The Razr 5G had an RRP of £1,399/€1,499/US$1,399 at launch, whereas the original Z Flip had an RRP of £1,300/€1,500/US$1,380. Samsung has worked hard to improve the hardware and price of its foldable clamshell, with the Z Flip 3 set to launch in 2021 for £949/€1,049/US$999.
However, Huawei’s goals for the P50 Pocket in terms of the target market and hardware competitiveness, the device version 8+256G is priced at 8988 yuan, while the art custom version 12+512G version is priced at 10988 yuan.
