Nokia 6 may just become the latest and eighth device to join HMD Global’s pre-existing list of 7 devices that have been upgraded to Android 9 Pie.
Nokia 6.1 was the first Nokia 6 variant to have been upgraded to Android 9 Pie and was followed a day later by Nokia 6.1 Plus. As it now stands, all the other Nokia 6 variant has already been upgraded, while the update for the OG version still remains to be released. But now, a stopover on Geekbench is being cited, which seems to indicate that tests are underway.
And while a date for the release remains to be set, it shall most likely be in Q1 of 2019, with high chances of the day being assigned to February or March.
With such great news for Nokia 6 users, it is now being expected of HMD that it may as well bring the latest and best updates from Google to Nokia 7, Nokia 5.1, Nokia 5, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 3.1, Nokia 3, Nokia 2.1, Nokia 2 and Nokia 1.
Nokia 2.1, Nokia 2, and Nokia 1 will also receive an Android update, but they will be upgraded to the Go Edition of Android 9 Pie instead, a modified version of the standard Pie optimized to run on devices with comparatively weaker hardware.
Android 9 Pie is supposed to be the second and the last major OS upgrade the Nokia 6 gets, but it will continue receiving security updates throughout this year.
