Nokia has announced that China Mobile will deploy a new solution designed to meet the enormous bandwidth and coverage needs of the Chinese market. The largest telecommunications operator in the country is preparing to move to 5G. The Nokia ‘AirScale MAA’ solution will enable China Mobile to allocate network resources between 4G and 5G users more efficiently, accelerating the deployment of 5G services to customers.

Nokia currently has 43 5G commercial contracts with operators around the world. The company has directly cooperated with China Mobile to launch the latest version of MAA with an output power of 320W, which is at least 80W higher than the similar products currently on the market. China Mobile now supports the 4G/5G concurrency model in the 2.6 GHz band, which flexibly balances both technologies. In addition, the latest version of MAA (160MHz, 320W) will ensure that China Mobile delivers higher coverage and capacity, helping it reduce capital expenditures during the transition to 5G.

China Mobile said that this will effectively meet the urgent needs of the 5G commercial consumer and industry applications. China Mobile also predicts that users of the 5G terminal market will reach tens of millions to 100 million in 2020. China Mobile also conducted 11 models 5G devices million units delivered, including Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, ZTE, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Samsung, TCL and China Mobile’s own brand of smartphones and data CPE (high-speed 4G or 5G signal is converted into WiFi device). China Mobile revealed that the first batch of terminals is expected to obtain national network access licenses in July and will start listings at the end of July.

Nokia’s Massive MIMO 5G is one of the important characteristics of technological evolution for increasing capacity, enhancing coverage, reducing interference, and effectively reducing the difficulty of site selection. The equipment opened this time is the industry’s first dual-band FDD Massive MIMO module. The FDD ultra-large-scale multi-antenna system has the largest specifications and the highest integration. With accurate channel feedback, user scheduling, and multi-user precoding techniques, Massive MIMO can simultaneously serve multiple terminals on the same spectrum resource, thereby increasing network capacity by more than three times compared to traditional LTE cells.

The LTE-based network continuously introduces 5G – like technologies to improve network performance and effectively solve the current hot-spot capacity challenge. This deployment solution also has 5G evolution capability and supports future software upgrades to 5G NR.
