In a bid to improve its customer needs and expand its footprint in the addressable market, the Finnish telecommunications company, Nokia, has announced today that it is strengthening its software portfolio in the areas of security, automation, and monetization, with AI binding the portfolio together.
The announcement reflects the continued evolution of the Nokia software business and builds on the success of rearchitecting its applications to make them fully cloud-native and deployable in any cloud environment, edge, public or private; in addition to launching several Software-as-a-Service services to provide CSPs and enterprises with faster time-to-value in operating their telecom networks.
The Nokia Software Portfolios
As part of today’s announcement, Nokia will unify its OSS, BSS, and security software packages under the AVA brand; Automation, Visualization, and Analytics. Through AI, machine learning, no code configuration, open APIs, multi-cloud orchestration, and digital ecosystems, AVA offers “Intelligence Everywhere.
Therefore, the company will be releasing the AVA Open Analytics platform to assist CSPs in accelerating AI projects, partly by streamlining data storage and utilization. According to several industry estimates, data scientists can currently spend about 40% of their time on repetitive operations that should be automated.
By transferring customers from centralized, monolithic data lakes to a hybrid data mesh architecture that abstracts technological complexity, data scientists are free to concentrate on the requirements of their data use cases. In 2023, Nokia anticipates the framework to be completely commercially accessible.
Additionally, to connect customers and application partners to speed up and commercialize innovation of automation and monetization solutions, Nokia introduced the IGNITE Digital Ecosystem.
Using Nokia’s ecosystem enablement platform IGNITE accelerates collaboration through secure access to the tools required to unlock value, such as on-demand product sandboxes for experimentation and integration. More than 20 initiatives, including the creation of new machine-learning models, automation, and use cases for cybersecurity incident detection and response, are currently active with clients and application suppliers.
Experts Reactions
Reacting to the announcement, Grant Lenahan, Principal Analyst at Appledore Research, said artificial intelligence and machine learning have been made the two main pillars of Nokia’s software portfolio with the revamping of its Business Applications under the AVA brand.
