In its latest version 1.4 update, NVIDIA Broadcast has now introduced an open-source software dedicated to streamers, to make it appear like you’re making eye contact with the camera, even if you’re looking elsewhere in real life. NVIDIA Broadcast welcomes the “Eye Contact” features, using Artificial Intelligence, AI to replace your eyes with simulated ones aligned with your camera.

In fact, during the initial tests run by The Verge crew, it was noted that the eye movement did not always seem genuine. There is definitely something to review, especially when they exhibit speeds that are practically superhuman at times.

But it’s not all meant to be trashed; on the contrary. Other times, eye contact was successful. However, the leading artificial intelligence hard- and software have made it clear that the feature is in beta and relies on user assistance to gather as much user feedback as possible to update the choice.

Additionally, the firm added that it had considered content creators who attempt to record themselves reading notes or a script in a post devoted to the new feature. NVIDIA has made sure, among other things, that the colors of the simulated eyes will match those of the real ones and that there will be a disconnect feature if you gaze too far away.

Apparently, there have been several projects involving the eyes and touch with cameras before this one from NVIDIA. For instance, in 2018, Apple started experimenting with a comparable feature for FaceTime. It is Visual Contact, which may be turned on in the Settings section specifically for the app. Last but not least, Microsoft has not been left behind either. Windows 11 includes a comparable feature that is based on a neural processing unit.
