Back in February this year, Oppo disclosed that it had developed a 240W SuperVooc charging technology. Then, the mobile giant hadn’t indicated anything regarding the arrival of this fast-charging technology on any smartphone.

However, as we just discovered in a tweet from the popular, reliable tipster, the Chinese mobile giant has confirmed today that it will be launching the 240-watt charging smartphone next year, 2023.

Oppo 240-watt Charging Full in Nine Minutes

As stated by the company, the Oppo 240-watt charging smartphone can power a 4500 mAh smartphone battery to 100 percent in nine minutes and hit 50 percent in just 3.5 minutes. In terms of charging time, that equates to 1 percent every four or five seconds. You can see the numbers really soar upward because the prototype Oppo exhibited at Mobile World Congress features a battery percentage indicator that extends to two decimal places.

However, it should also be noted that the 240-watt charging speed is only for a prototype phone, and it’s unclear what your battery would look like after a few charging cycles if you used these kinds of charging speeds. Meanwhile, Oppo reported that it is prepared to commercialize the speed while still balancing battery life.

Oppo 240-watt compared to 150-watt Charging

Alongside the 240-watt charging, the 150-watt charging was also announced by Oppo. While the 240W is full in 9 minutes, the 150W charge technology is capable of charging a 4500mAh battery from 1% to 50% in 5 minutes and 100% in 15 minutes. The company said it could do this without destroying users’ batteries, thanks to the Battery Health Engine.

Meanwhile, Oppo also noted that it had built a customized battery management chip for monitoring heat and other health factors, along with a new battery formula. By practically tripling the lifespan of batteries compared to existing industry standards, the Battery HealthEngine can keep a battery at 80% of its original capacity after up to 1,600 charge cycles. It can also keep a battery at 80% of its original capacity after up to 800 charge cycles.

Oppo 240-watt Charging Smartphone Launch

With its Find X series of smartphones, Oppo has raised the bar for the competition in terms of performance and charging technology. It is therefore anticipated that Oppo will offer additional charging options for users in its upcoming flagship smartphones. Oppo has not revealed the name of the smartphone that will feature the 240-watt charging but only confirmed it is launching next year. Thus, stay connected with TechGenyz for more updates on the upcoming 240-watt charging smartphone.
