Philips Will Launch $400 Ultra Hd Blu-ray Player Soon

Samsung’s UBD-K8500 was the only option for the US to play Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, but it may change in the upcoming month, as Philips is introducing its own Ultra HD Blu-ray Player.

This new player supports HDR and also includes a second HDMI-out for audio receivers that aren’t quite 4K ready yet. It also has Dolby TrueHD audio and DTH-HD Master support included and should be able to pass through Dolby Atmos or DTS:X encoded audio tracks.

Over the years, Blu-ray disc has lost its marketplace – the new Philip device has built-in apps that will let users stream 4K videos from YouTube and Netflix. The new Ultra HD Blu-ray player comes in two color variations – the BDP7501 (brushed aluminum) and BDP7301 (piano black), priced at $400 and to be available in the US by the end of this year. Another tech major, Panasonic has also launched its own Ultra HD Blu-ray player in the UK that might hit the US market later this year.
