RAW by Koenigsegg: A glimpse of a futuristic Hypercar

Swedish hypercar maker, Koenigsegg has revealed its new concept car. The RAW concept was designed by Finnish automotive designer Esa Mustonen as part of his graduation thesis under the supervision of Sasha Selipanov -Koenigsegg’s Head of Design.

Christian von Koenigsegg gave a green light to the design. And the result is a prototype of a lightweight entry-level hypercar of the future. RAW by Koenigsegg weighs just 700 kgs and runs on 700 HP. This gives it a 1:1 Power to Weight ratio, a Koenigsegg feature earlier also seen in its Agera model.

RAW incorporates a sleek design. The windshield wraps around the body smoothly, and the entry doors are hinged at the rear. When the doors open the roof of the car retracts too. Inside, the Raw has three-seat layout similar to that of the McLaren Speedtail. The carbon fibre occupant cell accommodates the driver at the center with passengers seated on either side of him.

The 3-cylinder Freevalve TFG engine is mounted behind the occupant cell. Freevalve engine replaces the mechanical camshafts with electronically-controlled actuators. These actuators open and shut the valves. The Freevalve engine has been used before in Koenigsegg’s Gemera model.

RAW by Koenigsegg can hit 0-100 km/hr in 3 seconds. The design has a special focus on aerodynamics with its cutting-edge flow-through architecture. Its rear diffuser design has been inspired by afterburners of fighter jets.

The car offers a unique opportunity to experience its performance in real-world or digital states via racing simulators. RAW concept car indeed gives us a glimpse of an exotic supercar of the future.
