Xiaomi has kept numb about the name of its upcoming phone, but it has finally put all the confusion about what the number 48 stood for to sleep. With the new teaser posted by Xiaomi’s director of product management, Donovan Sung, the 48 has hinted at the camera power of the phone. And finally, today, Chinese smartphone major Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 7 at an event in Beijing with AI-powered 48 MP dual camera.
The Redmi Note 7 is Xiaomi’s first smartphone to sport a dewdrop notch. It also has a radically different design, especially for Xiaomi smartphones. Note 7 is the new phone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 design, a 48MP rear camera, and a 2.5D glass design. The battery on Redmi Note 7 is 4000 mAh.
It ships with a 10W charger; although for even quicker charging, Xiaomi is also separately selling an 18W charger. External connectivity options include USB Type-C and a 3.5mm jack. The company seems to tout the fact that the display of this smartphone has bezels up to 0.8mm thick with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and has a maximum brightness of 450nits.
The Redmi Note 7 starts at just 999 yuan, which translates to Rs. 10,000 for a model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, rising to 1,399 yuan, which is approx Rs. 14,500 for 6GB/64GB. Will be available in China first but should make its way to India subsequently.
